Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. See how much fun Pickle ball can be for you and your friends!

Pickleball Clinics

Beginners Clinic: Never heard of pickleball? Never played a match? Played a few games but still trying to learn when to dink and why you can’t while you’re in the kitchen? This clinic is for you! Develop skills, learn the rules and fundamentals of the game, and play matches!
Intermediate Clinic: Do you have experience as a pickleball player and are ready to step up your game? This clinic will focus on improving your technique, court positioning, and match strategy!

Ratings Day

Receive a pickleball player rating! Ratings are utilized during tournaments as well as some pickleball leagues to determine player skill level. Event will take place during normal pick-up play. Robert Fleming(coach shark) will be present to observe play of those that are interested in receiving a player rating. Ratings will not be posted or utilized during pick-up play but if you are interested in playing in tournaments either here at Caine Halter YMCA or at other venues, receiving a rating will allow you to know the appropriate division to register for.

Tournament

Recommended Player Rating: 3.0 – 4.0 This will be an unsanctioned, doubles-play tournament (teams are not required to be mixed gender). During registration, there will be a field to include your partner’s name but both players must be registered individually. If you do not have a partner, list free agent and a partner will be assigned to you on tournament day. Play format will be dependent on the number of teams that are registered but each team will play at least 3 matches.

Reservations are required to participate in the beginner workshop and the intermediate advanced level classes only. Reservations open 24 hours before the start of each session. 

  • Beginner Workshop
    Learn the basics of pickleball with a designated volunteer coach. 
  • Open Play (Any Skill Level, Located in the Gymnasium) 
    This class is for open play and any skill level. Work on your game and have fun at the same time!
  • Intermediate Advanced Level
    Dive into intermediate-advanced pickleball play with this advanced class. In order to participate in this class, you must be evaluated on your skill level by our Pickleball Coach. This class is for intermediate to advanced players only.
