In partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, the YMCA has developed a small-group cancer survivorship program for those living with, through, or beyond cancer. Studies have shown that participants in our program experience improved fitness and quality of life, as well as significant decreases in cancer-related fatigue.*
*Research findings from Yale University and Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Survivors participate in customized exercise regimens catered to their individual needs from certified fitness instructors. These instructors are trained in cancer survivorship, post-rehabilitation exercise and supportive cancer care. Survivors and their families receive a free membership at the YMCA of Greenville for the duration of the program to support the wellbeing of participants, and their caregivers.
Our 12-week program* includes:
- Two 75 to 90-minute sessions per week
- Cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises
- Fitness and quality of life assessments before and after participation
- YMCA-certified instructors helping participants every step of the way
*Requires medical clearance from a physician. Open to adults 18 years or older at no cost.
