News Release: Prisma Health & YMCA of Greenville Expand Partnership
GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 15, 2024) – YMCA of Greenville and Prisma Health have a long history of partnering together to improve health outcomes for Greenville County residents, to create a safe space for individuals and families, and to provide evidence-based health programs. Today, the organizations announce that fitness operations of the Prisma Health Life Center on Faris Road will be transitioned to the YMCA of Greenville in early fall 2024.
The YMCA of Greenville is dedicated to continuing the Life Center's incredible legacy of service. Rest assured, our intent is to enhance the great work already happening at this facility, enrich existing relationships, and foster new connections - all intended to help you live your healthiest life. Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions:
Beginning September 21, 2024, the Life Center will close temporarily so facility upgrades can begin. These include:
- New flooring in the wellness center
- New fitness equipment
- New lighting in the wellness center and the pool area
We'll also be bringing member, participant, child watch, and facility policies in-line with the other YMCA of Greenville locations. This will streamline your experience, and enable us to offer the best service possible.

We plan to enhance and add-to the robust culture of the Life Center by:
- Keeping our primary focus on adult-centric programs and offerings. Child watch will still be offered, as well as swim lessons, but we have no plans to offer youth sports programming, Afterschool or Summer Day Camp at the Life Center YMCA.
- Maintaining our partnership with Prisma Health via on-site rehab and medically-based programs like Heartlife, and Moving On.
- Minimizing disruptions in your experience as much as possible.
Most importantly, you'll experience the same outstanding service and support you've come to expect each and every day.
After we reopen, the current operational schedule will remain the same as before:
Monday - Friday: 5am-8pm
Saturday: 8am-6pm
Sunday: 1pm-6pm
Our hope is to expand facility hours in the coming months, so you'll have even more opportunities to stay active.
You can continue to purchase personal training sessions at the Life Center through September 20, 2024. At that time, all unredeemed sessions will transfer, and will be available for use at the Life Center YMCA branch for up to 6 months.

The biggest change you'll notice in the pool area? Lifeguards! All YMCA of Greenville pools have lifeguards onsite, per our policy. You can rest assured our team will be present any time the pool is open to ensure you have the safest swim possible.
Mary's swim lessons will continue at this time, and we'll continue to offer aqua fitness classes throughout the week.
Yes! The vital community support Prisma Health provides to our community will go on, unchanged. This includes Heartlife cardio/pulmonary rehab. Moving On for cancer-survivors, Diabetes support programs, and more.
